REHOMING YOUR DINGO

Dingo Den Animal Rescue believes that the life of every dingo and dingo-hybrid is unique and precious. We also believe that the bonds developed between dingoes and their carers are special and greatly beneficial to dingoes and carers alike. These beliefs inspire Dingo Den Animal Rescue to do all that we can to prevent dingoes becoming displaced.

We recognise that a person's role as a dingo’s lifetime carer is vital to the dingo's long term success. With this in mind, we aim
to empower dingo owners to become the best possible carers they can be. We have a range resources available on our Dingo Care section, Myths page and Facts page, which we encourage you to read before making the final decision to rehome your dingo. You may also find support by talking about your concerns on our Dingo Den Facebook Page. Many experienced dingo carers are part of our online community and may be able to offer assistance or advice. Through our online resources, many dingoes receive new starts at life in the very homes that they are already living in. This is the ultimate success story and our key objective.

Whilst this is the ideal situation, we also appreciate that personal situations can change and difficult circumstances arise that make caring for your dingo hard– or even impossible. This is why we offer a free rehoming service, to ensure that dingoes and carers are provided with experienced support in such a time.

Where a new home is seen as the best solution, Dingo Den Animal Rescue will help find a suitable, dingo-approved home for your loved one. We have a three stage adoption application process that thoroughly screens potential carers and their homes to ensure the best possible home will be provided. These long-term efforts help to end the cycle of homelessness that some dingoes experience throughout their lives, protecting them from the possibilities of abandonment, neglect, abuse or euthanasia.

Home truly is where the heart is, and that's why Dingo Den Animal Rescue is dedicated to ensuring that carers genuinely get to know the wild and beautiful hearts of their dingoes. Saving the wild-hearted is our passion. Helping others understand and appreciate dingo nature is the key that enables dingoes and their carers to live the happiest, healthiest and most rewarding lives imaginable.

Free Rehoming Service

We understand that rehoming your dingo is a difficult decision and can be an emotional time. Our caring rescue team is here to help you and your dingo through this difficult time.

The Rehoming Process
  1. You as the dingo's owner complete the relinquishment form below.
  2. After we receive your form, one of our caring rescue coordinators will be in touch to help. We will discuss the best plan of action for your dingo and offer immediate advice and support.
  3. If urgent, we will help coordinate transport of your dingo to foster care or our sanctuary, along with its paperwork and records.
  4. Once we find your dingo a new home, we will manage the paperwork and transportation of your dingo to its new owner.
  5. Once settled in its new home, we will update you about how your surrendered dingo is going.

Courtesies
Where possible we ask that your dingo is:
  1. Microchipped.
  2. Up-to-date with its immunisation schedule and worming.
  3.  Registered with your local council (if 6 months or older) in states or territories where registration is mandatory.
  4. If your dingo has been DNA tested, please provide proof of DNA results as this may help us find a home more quickly.

It's a great idea to bring bring your dingo's food and care items with you to our sanctuary. These familiar things help ease the change of environment for your dingo, enabling it to feel comforted and happy. You might like to bring your dingo's:
  • Collar and lead
  • Regular food
  • Favourite treats
  • Toys
  • Bedding
  • Brushes

Saving The Wild-Hearted

Saving the wild-hearted means the world to us. Our rescue coordinators are experienced dingo owners and handlers who care for every displaced dingo as their own. Some of the beautiful dingoes who deeply touched the hearts of our rescue team are shown below.

Just as we did for these dingoes, we will do everything in our power to give your dingo the bright future he or she deserves.
